What remains uncertain

The site was announced on Feb. 24, 2026; the opened sources state no construction start, total investment or schedule, and the City of Pine Island still describes the project as proposed.
CNBC (Oct. 19, 2026) reportedly describes a 780 MW data center plan; the CNBC page returned 403 and the figure was seen only as relayed by a secondary blog, so it is not recorded. Load figures in Xcel's PUC filing are reported as redacted.
Xcel says the data center expands Google's AI and cloud capabilities; no specific AI hardware or workload is stated.
