Evidence before inference.
A field guide to the physical build-out of AI.
One entry, one identifiable thing
Projects track named sites and facilities. Deals track agreements between named parties. A shared article or company mention does not establish a commercial relationship. Private builders and public institutions belong alongside listed companies.
Stages are separate facts
Proposed, Announced, Permitted, Financed, Under construction and Operational each require dated evidence. Delayed and Cancelled retain their history. Financing does not mean construction has begun. A partially operating campus is labeled partial; later phases remain future scope.
Figures stay attached to their source
Every number records its kind, unit, qualifier, speaker and date. IT load, facility power and generation are different measures. Planned spending and contract ceilings are different from money spent. We do not sum these figures across entries.
How an entry reaches the catalog
Research starts with company releases, filings, government and regulator documents. An entry needs a primary source, or two independent press sources from different domains. An agent or human explicitly reviews publication. Agent review is always labeled. Feed suggestions alone never publish.
Five connected layers
Chips and networks; manufacturing; cloud and compute; data centers; power and grid. Layers are tags, so an entry can touch several. Tag counts are not an exclusive breakdown.
Different clocks, different meanings
Publication is when the source appeared. Receipt is when it reached this catalog’s workflow. Admission is when a review was applied. Source check and revision times record later verification and editing. A catalog entry added today may describe an older announcement. Date-only sources are shown as dates; a stored midnight is not a known publication hour.
Location and uncertainty
Map points represent known city or region centroids, never parcels. Country-only and undisclosed locations remain in the accessible project list. Uncertainties travel with each entry, including phase scope, ambiguous power measures and unverified schedules.
Scope and freshness
This is a researched selection, not a census of global infrastructure. Source checks can lag and coverage varies by region and layer. The footer links to operational status. Existing records remain available during source outages. There are no investment recommendations or estimates of investment returns.
Your reading state
Following and seen markers live in this browser’s local storage. “Since your last visit” compares catalog update identifiers. It does not redefine the date of the underlying news.
